Storing Essential Oils
Today we are going to talk about Tips for Storing Essential Oils. There are many ways to store essential oils but it is best to find a storage system that works best for you.
I like to keep all my oils in one spot so I know right where they are. I have them in this 80 count bamboo box in alphabetical order so I can easily grab what I need. You can even keep your oils in a shoebox, but its nice to have something that will keep sunlight, moisture and other elements out. I also like something that can be closed incase you want to take your oils with you somewhere.
Here are a few tips I have found useful to help make sure your oils last and you get your monies worth!
Tips for Storing Essential Oils
- Avoid Direct Sunlight- Essential oils come in amber or dark bottles for a reason. If your oils are not in glass dark bottles, think about switching them out.
- Keep away from Heat, Moisture, and Open Flames- Essential Oils store great in a cool dry place with a well regulated temperature.
- Keep the cap on when not using the oils- Some oils when exposed to oxygen start to break down. By keeping the cap on you can slow down the oxidation process.
- Consider investing in an Essential Oils storage case. These are built for oils and help to keep them from sunlight. There are a few places (here, here, here) to find awesome cases for Essential Oil collections or all sizes.
